TURNBERRY PLACE has been in operation since 2007 and was founded by 2 nurses who had a dream in providing more personal and loving care within a smaller and more “home-like” environment. With that in mind, they found TURNBERRY PLACE and made several modifications within the home to make it “just perfect” in complimenting that vision. TURNBERRY PLACE is nurse-owned and managed and is licensed by the state of Colorado for 6 residents. 

Tamra Meurer, Owner

Tamra Meurer is a Certified Nurse Practitioner who is specially trained in Geriatrics. She has lived in the Fort Collins community since 1983. She is married, has 2 daughters, and wears several “hats” in her profession. 

Tamra started her “career” in geriatrics at the age of 16 working in a nursing home in a small town in South Dakota. This fostered her decision to go in to Nursing. She graduated from the University of South Dakota with her Registered Nurse in 1983. Even then, she had a vision of developing an environment with a “home-like” feel and with little care transition as ones physical needs would change throughout the lifespan. She continued to work with the elderly population trying to improve quality of life and actualize this dream. This fostered her quest to continue her education and she completed a Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Northern Colorado and became board certified in 1996. 

Tamra also completed a Long Term Care Fellowship taught by local and national experts in Geriatrics. Previously, she also owned and operated Northern Colorado Geriatrics, a Nurse – Practitioner practice that managed over 300 long-term care and assisted living patients for over 100 physicians in the Northern Colorado region. As a result of this venture, she continues to work very closely with several area physicians in providing care and assessments of their older patients. 

Staff at TPAL

The staff at TPAL is a GREAT team of caregivers. They all demonstrate competency and compassion to our residents. They are loyal and committed to our goal of improving the quality of life for those whom we care for. 

Most of our staff has been at TURNBERRY PLACE for over a year and some have been with us since “the beginning”. Our staff has a special interest in the well-being of our residents; some are studying to move on within the health care field as nurses, therapists, and physicians. 

All of our staff has the dedication and enthusiasm to bring forth a loving and engaging environment for our residents and visitors. There is a strong energy that “envelopes” anyone who visits or resides at TURNBERRY PLACE. 
TURNBERRY PLACE offers staff education on health related issues and care related issues to continually enhance the quality of care that we provide.
